The tragedy that
A full fridge
Is cheaper to run
Than an empty one.
So the columnist
Advises placing
Bowls of water
On bare shelves.
Now in homes
Across the country
Hungry children
Will open the door –
Only to be met with
Their own reflections.
Note: This was inspired by an article in The Guardian. I understand the necessary practicality of the advice, but it struck me right in the gut.
